Marco D’Ambrosio

The Principals

Marco d’Ambrosio, Composer/Creative Director

A native of Florence, Italy, Marco's musical baptism began shortly after moving from Italy to Boston, when at age nine he began playing trumpet. This quickly led him to composition and synthesis, with a special interest in combining the textures of electronic and acoustic instruments. Marco received most of his training from the University of Hartford/Hartt College of Music in Hartford, CT., where he studied music and acoustics.

Currently Marco spends his time as composer and creative director at MarcoCo. Studios, his music production/sound design facilities located in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles.  He composes, performs and produces original scores for feature film, documentary, theatre and new media productions.  His scores have been on projects released by 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures Classics, Lucasfilm Ltd., PDI/Dreamworks, Pixar, and Columbia TriStar, including the anime hit Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, Haiku Tunnel, the Emmy-winning Blink, Runners High, Double Dare for PBS, Red Diaper Baby for the Sundance Channel and the The Rape of Europa which was released theatrically.  Marco is also responsible for creating much of the dynamic sound and music heard in the highly acclaimed THX trailers.

In 2005, Marco was one of six accomplished composers awarded a fellowship from the Sundance Institute. In addition to the documentary Paper or Plastic?, Marco has just completed Say Hello to Stan Talmadge, a feature comedy starring Gary Cole (Office Space, Talladega Nights) and Jennifer Coolidge (Best in Show, Legally Blonde).
